Our Story

The VIP Marina at Lake Travis is a premier powerboat facility with 140 covered slips and a selection of non-covered, located on Lake Travis just 22 miles from the heart of Austin. Local resident Austin Cameron owns and operates the VIP Marina at Lake Travis, firmly believing that boat ownership and/or chartering should be an incredible experience from start to finish.

Meet Austin Cameron

OWNER

Hi, my name is Austin Cameron, the owner of VIP Marina. Having loved lakes and boating as a kid, it’s always been my dream to own a marina. Once I discovered VIP Marina, I fell in love. In November 2009, I decided I had to buy it, and I’ve kept my boat here since. I had the rare chance to make the marina of my dreams, and I hope that you’ll find it to your liking as well.

With my experience running successful businesses in Texas, I felt that this marina had the potential to become a world-class marina. I’ve renovated the place with the goal of turning it into a truly amazing marina for truly amazing guests. We’ve reached that goal and continue to strive.

I’ve always found in my other business dealings that if you treat people right, they’ll come back and bring their friends, and that’s exactly what’s happened here at VIP Marina. We know our VIP Marina members by name and they know us by name, and they know their neighbors by name. We promote a great sense of dock neighborliness, and the sense of warm community I grew up with lives on here at VIP.

To me, this marina is more than just the parts and people. It’s about the connections and relationships between the people, and even between the people and our wonderful lake. Meet Bill Gauspohl

GENERAL MANAGER

Hello, My name is Bill Gauspohl. I am the General Manager for VIP Marina. I have had the pleasure of being the first General Manager hired by Austin Cameron in 2009. Together we had an opportunity to develop a culture and a brand that is far above any other facility outside of VIP Marinas.

I have always had a passion for the marina business coming from Alabama with the knowledge of running my own business. As a university professor for 25 years I also have experience working offshore and also owning a successful dive shop and instructional school.

Working for VIP for almost 15 years, I have helped with the development of the culture and branding that has allowed VIP to own and operate 14 world-class facilities in three different states. VIP has been part of my family and we will continue to “Create Positive Memories That Last A Lifetime.” I look forward to meeting people from around the globe as we continue our adventure. Meet Chris Fontana

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Chris Fontana began his career in the marina industry in 2016, working for Bill Gauspohl and operating as a driver for party barges from 2018 to 2022. His dedication and hard work paid off. In 2022, Chris transitioned to operations and rentals, where he is now responsible for overseeing all billing, electric, and insurance matters for the marina.

Chris’s love for the water began in his childhood, sailing with his grandfather in California. This early experience instilled in him a deep passion for being out on the water, which continues to drive his commitment to the marina and its community. His extensive experience and enthusiasm make him a valuable asset to the team, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional service for all marina patrons.
